She's Got Legs

For over a year now, I have been working the tights as pants angle at every warmer day opportunity I get. At first I thought as it is a bit risqué, that I should keep my tights in dark bars or at drunken parties. As of late however, I have learned how to wear the tights appropriately enough to bring them out during the day. Don’t mistake my tights as pants as actual pants. I am a lady after all, and have always made sure to keep my girly parts out of public view. But if the shirt is long enough to hide my butt, I’ll call it a dress and pair it with some crazy tights.

The May issue of Nylon features an article titled “Dude, Where Are My Pants?” by Rajni Jacques and Fiorella Valdsesolo. While these ladies have also been experimenting with tights, their views on the new trend are slightly different than mine. For instance, Jacques believes that tights are the end all be all. Now while I love them as well, I wouldn’t say it’s time for a public burning of our pants quite yet. Well, with the exception of anything flare legged, bedazzled, or from The Gap. All of those should forever more, be turned to ash.

Anyway, when trying this trend there are a couple of things that one should be aware of-

1. I am not hating the curvy ladies at all, but let us not forget- skin tight does not work for everyone
2. Patterned or colored tights can be worn as pants if paired with a longer top. Under no circumstances should any tights be
worn as pants when accompanied with a fitted top that does not cover your ass.
3. See through tights need to stay tights and should never be worn as pants.
4. Tights are cheap, buy a new pair as to not look cheap yourself- if you experience any runs or pilling in your tights, toss
‘em.
5. Have fun with your wardrobe. Be confident, and remember, someone, somewhere, will always have his or her own opinion.
After all, if you’ve got the legs to pull it off, use them!
